Timex's U.S. headquarters are located in Middlebury Connecticut and it has substantial operations in China, the Philippines and India and full scale sales companies in Canada, the UK, France and Mexico. The company began in 1854 as Waterbury Clock in Connecticut's Naugatuck Valley, known during the nineteenth century as the "Switzerland of America." Sister company Waterbury Watch manufactured the first inexpensive mechanical pocket watch in 1880. During World War I, Waterbury began making wristwatches, which had only just become popular, and in 1933 it made history by creating the first Mickey Mouse clock under license from Walt Disney, with Mickey's hands pointing the time.During World War II, Waterbury renamed itself U.S. Time Company. In 1950 the company introduced a wristwatch called the Timex. Over the next three decades, Timex was sold through a series of advertisements which emphasized its durability by putting the watch through "torture tests," such as falling over the Grand Coulee Dam or being strapped to the propeller of an outboard motor, with the slogan "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking." With the help of former Olympic broadcaster, spokesman John Cameron Swayze, sales took off. The company later became Timex Corporation, then Timex Group and, to date, has sold over one billion watches. The company has remained very competitive and the Timex brand continues its dominance through present day. Its primary market remains the United States and Canada, although the Timex brand is sold worldwide due to its ability to capitalize on its strong brand image and reputation for quality. One of the most successful and important features available on many Timex watches is the Indiglo backlight system. Indiglo is a brand name of Indiglo Corporation, solely owned by Timex for licensing purposes. Timex electroluminescent lamps, branded Indiglo, were introduced in 1992 in the Ironman watch line. They were an immediate success. The Indiglo lamp uniformly lights the surface of the Timex’s watch dials in a manner that makes the dial read very easily in many different light settings. In some newer watches the Indiglo backlight only lights up the numbers, rather than the entire LCD display, which is achieved by means of a specialized film that inverts the LCD transmissivity.Today, Timex Group products are manufactured in the Far East and in Switzerland often based on technology that continues to be developed in the United States and in Germany. With a large and varied line of watches, Timex has the style for everyone. From the locker room to the board room, there is a great Timex style time-piece for you.

I bought this watch just before a trip to Asia and have been very pleased. The two time zone function made it easy to keep track of each time change and keep tabs on what time it was at home so that I could keep a schedule for medications, etc. I was also pleased that the watch offers both 12 and 24 hour display options.I used this watch as my only alarm clock during my trip, and although, as other reviewers have mentioned, it is quite soft, it was always enough to wake me up when placed close to my head. However, it might not be loud enough for very sound sleepers or for use in a noisy environment or while wearing outside. The silicone band is very comfortable and provides a good number of adjustments. My wrist is very narrow, but the watch fits comfortably with a couple of notches to spare. I wore it recently in a very humid climate, and though my wrist did get sweaty I was able to wear it for the entire trip without too much bother.I like the large clock face, but the watch is bulky enough to catch on some clothing - taking a tight jacket on and off for instance. It has an attractive enough design to wear to work, but it still looks like a sports watch and would not be appropriate for dressier occasions.I have not used the lap timer yet though I plan to try it when I run. All the other functions I have used have been easy and straight forward, so I do not anticipate difficulty. I do a lot of swimming, but I don't think I would be able to use the lap timer without pushing the buttons under water.I bought this watch for the first time a year ago: I have a pretty small wrist and have trouble finding sport watches that are not too big. I love the style of this watch. It's streamlined and easy to read and has all the Ironman watch functions I wanted, and I love the purple color. The buttons are not as easy to press as other Ironman watches I've owned, but they're OK. My biggest problem is that the band comes loose and slips off my wrist too easily, even when it's held by the piece that's supposed to keep the end of the band from flapping. It happened several times when I was holding my 2-year old and his weight was against the watch, even though he wasn't playing with it. Finally it happened and I didn't notice and lost it, but I'm ordering it again because I like the watch so much and I'm hoping I can come up with a homemade solution to prevent the problem.Knowing how important reviews are, especially when buying a product you're not so sure about, I am taking some time out to write a short review about the watch. After searching for a good digital watch online and in-store for over 2 months, I finally decided to buy this one. I was concerned that it would look too big for my narrow wrist, but it is just fine. It looks a whole lot better than some of the other digital watches because of the sleek silver face and buttons. The buttons are easy to push and the watch is reasonably waterproof - I haven't seen it fog up so far, considering that I wear it in the shower too.The alarm on the watch is audible, but don't expect anything on the lines of a loud clock radio. The Indiglo works fine too.As far as I know, there is no snooze function.Overall, I'm happy with this purchase. I would recommend buying this!EDIT: The strap opens up occasionally. But the watch is still waterproof. This watch is great, very large face, easy to read at a glance. Looks professional (which is what I wanted) while providing easy to read date and time at a glance (which is what I needed). The "chrome" ring around the face looks great and dresses it up. The rubber wrist band if very comfortable and easy to adjust. This is my third watch from Timex over 20 years. The truth is eventually the plastic and rubber wear out, but for the price, who cares, just buy a new one every 7 years or so. The indiglo works exactly as it should, and I don't use the lap features, so I can't speak to that capacity. Very happy with my purchase. Side note, when the battery dies and you have it replaced this watch is no longer water resistant. So don't expect that function to last forever, just until the battery wears out.Great watch for taking vitals in the medical field. Love the day of the week and date posting as well. It's very easy to use after reading the instructions and pretty intuitive even without them. Have this in two colors and the light on my turquoise stopped functioning within a year so that was disappointing. This purple one is a bit newer for me and the light is still fine.Update: Had to change the rating because after 9 months of usage it suddenly lost it's seal and it use pretty useless. It was great up until that time.Good looking watch. The digits are big enough that are easy to read, for who needs a watch that the digits are so small one has to strain their eyes just to tell time? Certainly not the lovely lady this watch was intended for. She is happy, and consequently, we are all happy. The band is kind of different, and the color makes this watch a pretty sight. Nothing cheers me up more than Big Mama happy, that is for sure! 4 Stars.I haven't had this watch very long, but I absolutely love it. I had an older Timex Triathlon for years, but lost it. I love the sleek, more feminine design of this watch. The strap is made of really flexible rubbery plastic, instead of the hard, inflexible straps on some other watches. Best, if I want to swap out the strap for a different one, maybe leather, in the future, I can do it with this watch. Many of the Timex watches have a weird strap design that insures you can't swap it with a generic type strap. Finally, I've had Triathlon watches for a very long time, but I never go swimming in them or get them wet, even though they say you can. Water immersion will eventually shorten the life of the watch.I've had a Timex Ironman watch previously & needed to replace it, after much searching I bought this one & it's perfect. The strap is replaceable - unlike my last Ironman where it was integrated into the watch case with no means to replace it.The display is easily read & shows day, date & month & time, press the indiglo button & you see what time it is in the dark! The watch also times your laps if you're a runner - I just wanted a reliable watch that give the information stated above with a dial large enough to read without putting on my glasses - perfect!I bought this watch for my wife, she loved the colour and the watch in general. The watch is very easy to set and use.You have time, hour:minutes:seconds, Date, day of the week: month: day.You got night light (green colour which makes it even nicer) and alarm.Five out Five.Very light weight, and with a good sized screen which makes it easy to see on the move. Only just received it, so can't comment on it's durability, but like that should anything happen to the strap, it should be able to be easily replaced. So far only set the time, and found that very easily done.Good watch, looks nice. I've had timex since a child, one of them still going strong after 20 years use. My wife like the style of this one which she wanted for sports and running. Remember multiple run times so she can compare her progress.I bought this as I wanted to time myself doing swim laps but the watch for me has too many functions and is not user friendly. To be honest I just press buttons now hoping that it will take mt to this mode. Sometimes I get there and sometimes I give up. Nice looking sports watch though and nice to wear. A lady like sports watch. Good colour and was dispatched on time.
